Personal Experience

Troy R. Crichton graduated Villanova University in 2006 with a bachelors degree in Philosophy and then attended the Temple University Beasley School of Law. He became licensed to practice law in 2009 in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bars. After law school, Troy clerked for the Honorable Leon W. Tucker in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas in both criminal and civil divisions. After

his clerkship, Troy joined a local defense firm for a brief stint, focusing on medical malpractice defense. In 2012, he accepted a position with the Defender’s Association of Philadelphia where he was quickly promoted to the Major Jury Unit where he tried numerous serious felonies and sexual assault cases to verdict. In 2018, Troy secured one of Pennsylvania’s Top 50 Jury Verdicts of 2018 in a premises liability matter in Luzurne County. The matter was appealed and the $800,000 verdict was affirmed on appeal by the Pennsylvania Superior Court. Since that time, Troy has secured millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for his clients.

As a “Defender Forever”, Troy continues to practice criminal law and in August of 2019 he successfully reversed the second-degree murder conviction of Jehmar Gladden. After 24 years incarcerated for a crime he did not commit, Jehmar was released from prison. In addition to practice, Troy is a board member of Uplift Solutions and The Liberation Foundation, both Philadelphia non-profits focused on incarceration re-entry and advocacy.
